Where in the world IS Carmen Sandiego?

Sep-27-2008 By annelions

If you’re aware of my YouTube channel at all, you’ve probably seen my video where I paint a map of the world set to the them from the PBS show ‘Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?’. When I did that video, there was hardly anything on YouTube from that show. I think (though I’m not sure) that mine was one of the first. I know that there were no other videos on YouTube at the time with the theme song.

But now, there are a ton of clips from the actual show that have been uploaded. There are currently 10 or so shows that have been uploaded to YouTube (I haven’t counted exactly). But YouTube does not have the show that I wanted to see. The last show, “A Rodent Ran Through It“.

Why did I want to see this one? If you’re familiar with the show at all, you know that Rockapella was on every episode. There was this guy, that guy, the blond guy and… the guy with the braids. I’m afraid I don’t know who’s who very well. But at the end of the last show of the last season, the host of the show (Greg Lee) cut the braids off of Sean Altman.

This show is not on YouTube!

Fortunately, with a little searching, I was able to find the episode. On a site that I’d never heard of before, called Truveo. I don’t know why I hadn’t heard of it before, it seems pretty cool. It is a video search engine. So not only is the last episode, A Rodent Ran Through It, on there, it lists a total of 350 Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego clips.

Since each individual episode usually makes 2 or 3 clips, that means there are 100+ episodes on there. Though some of them might be clips of the computer game. Are they all different? I don’t know.

There are an additional 763 Carmen Sandiego clips if you use a different search. But this is more likely to include Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego as well as Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego. Either way, enjoy the Carmen Sandiego.

Last day for Horribleness

Jul-20-2008 By annelions

If you haven’t seen Dr. Horrible yet, today’s your last chance to do so for free.

It’s very good, even if I wish it had ended differently (which I won’t spoil for you; just go see it).

Have you seen Dr. Horrible?

Jul-18-2008 By annelions

Have you? If you haven’t seen Doctor Horrible, you only have two days left to see it for free! It’s good, really. If you think musicals are awful, you should still watch this. Some music. Light dancing. And, best of all, a mad scientist who wants to rule the world. And his nemesis, bent on stopping him. Follow the banner below to go see what I’m talking about. You know you want to.

Spy shows are cool…

Do you remember the old show, Macgyver? No? Me either. I’ve heard a lot about it, but I’ve never actually seen an episode of it. Well, I’ve just heard of a new spy show: USA Network’s Burn Notice. The premise sounds interesting, sort of like Macgyver and sort of not.

So if you had to make spy gear out of household objects after being kicked out of the CIA, what would you do? Here’s my idea:

Goldilocks

I’m messing around with AdBrite and decided to do a little test with a video I downloaded awhile ago: Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Renting movies couldn’t be easier

Mar-26-2007 By annelions

DVDPlay is about the coolest invention (innovation) ever. There is a kiosk, filled with up to a hundred different titles, and you can go do DVD movie rental from it using just a credit card. No membership cards, no fumbling for cash like in a regular store and no waiting several days for your movie to arrive by mail. None of that. You get your movie instantly. And it’s cheaper than a traditional movie rental place, provided you return the movie promptly.

It’s terribly easy to use and (I think) extremely fun. But, then again, I am a bit of a nerd or a geek. Don’t take my word for it, go check out your nearest DVDPlay kiosk and give it a try.
