Performancing

Dec-30-2006 By annelions

As you can see in my previous post, I was trying out the Performancing plugin for FireFox. I’d been told that it’s very good. Since PayPerPost just acquired Performancing.com (but not the actual editor), I was on the site poking around anyway and decided to try it. One word: Ick.

Performancing.com itself is very confusing. Since PPP bought neither the editor for blogs nor the ad network, I’m not sure what they did get. It’s hard to tell. I see the editor, statistics and the ad network. Did PPP get the statistics? Or is that part of the editor? It’s hard to tell.

I signed up at Performancing.com, to take a look at the statistics. There’s only one problem, I can’t tell how to get them to work! The instructions are very bad and the site, once logged in, is no more informative nor intuitive than before logging in. Actually, it is even less informative.

So I poked around for a bit, but I’m still confused. When logged in, you cannot get to the statistic activation page by any means that I can see. You have to actually go back to the instruction page. This is very stupid. All in all, it’s very hard to navigate around the site.

I tried, I’ll go back to using other things instead. I can’t see how Performancing got as popular as it is.

Just a camera – no money

Dec-28-2006 By annelions

This is what PayPerPost is giving away to 5 lucky people. 6 megapixe HPl camera. Not bad – mine is only 5 MP (I thought it was 4, but I looked since my last camera related post).

I’m guessing it’s the same camera package given away for the postie patrol, with camera, printer, paper and memory. If so, the memory’s not much (only 128MB), but that’s solved easily enough.

So why would I want a HP camera when I’ve already got a camera?

Well, I’d use the new camera regularly. Take all sorts of digital photos and stuffs. But my old camera, I might turn into a doggie cam. Strap it to my big dog. She’s BIG. Her neck is bigger around than any human’s neck. She’s also really heavy. I’m not sure how much she weighs, but it’s got to be somewhere around 80-100lbs. I think. She wouldn’t notice a regular camera strapped to her.

Anyway, with a doggie cam, we’d get a dog eye view of her playing with her toys. Her squeaky alligator, her squeaky ice cream cone, her squeaky hamburger or… her favorite toy… empty 2 liter bottles of soda.

Then again, she might decide that the camera is a squeaky toy, too, and would try to chew it up! So maybe that’s not such a good idea. I’ll have to come up with some other use for my old camera…

A camera and a thousand dollars

That’s not what I have, nor is it a site you can go somewhere to get, it’s what the woman doing the last ‘Postie Patrol’ for PayPerPost got. I know I’ve talked about PPP and Postie Patrols before – they come to your house or your area and make you do things to get some sort of a prize. Well, this time it was $1,000 + HP camera stuff.

Watching it, I can’t help but think that this Postie Patrol was a bit much. A multi-media treasure hunt… But it seemed like that poor woman had too many things to find. Without incredibly good luck, she would have lost.

But, she did win. And she did get the $1,000 and the camera stuff. There’s something I thought was sort of funny… before they gave her the money, they were telling her what all the HP stuff was: a camera, a printer thing, paper… and a 128MB memory thing for the camera. 128MB, these days, is nothing for pictures. I think it’s about 50 really good quality pics on my 4 mega pixel camera (if that), which isn’t much, when a roll of film holds 24 exposures. They’ve just finished handing over $1000 and a $300-$500 camera package (not sure exactly, I might check HP’s digital photography review page later) and they have to scrimp on the camera memory? Why not at least 256MB? 512? Heck, why not a whole gigabyte? Since HP was sponsoring the whole thing, I think they can get the memory a lot cheaper than the $50 or so it costs regular consumers.

Oh well.

By the way, HP sponsored this post.

Not so much to talk about

Dec-20-2006 By annelions

I haven’t been blogging much lately, you might have noticed. Gaps here and there. Well, aside from being sick (which has cut down both on my ability and willingness to blog; hard to [want to] blog when you’re coughing horribly), there has been little at PayPerPost that I’ve wanted to write about. Gout remedy? Water, fire or mold removal? I mean, I suppose I CAN write about these things. I simply have not felt like doing so, especially when most opps are offering $4 or $5 and I can only take 2 opps per day instead of 3. I suppose that should make me want to blog every day to get more money, but it actually makes me fell like blogging less.

I was really happy when I was getting $15-30/day blogging. $105-210/week. And it was usually nearer the high end of the spectrum. But now… $70/week or $280/month seems almost not worth my time.

But I guess I’d better look again for things to blog about – I do need the money.

October was the best month at PPP.

Bloggin’ for fun and profit

Dec-10-2006 By annelions

I love getting paid to blog. Unfortunately, of all my blogs, this is the only one that can currently do PayPerPost. None of my others are old enough. So if you tire of reading my newish blogs then you can read the PayPerPost blog. Not only do they post news and updates, but they also post weird and interesting videos. As strange as mine, even. If you can even believe that. And if you can’t, then you should go see for yourself.
But I know you’ll come back and read my blogs eventually, after checking out the PayPerPost blog. Just ’cause. Mine are the best and stuff. Or something like that.

Yay affiliate program!

Dec-10-2006 By annelions

So, PayPerPost has a new affiliate program. This means that if you click the little badge in my sidebar, not only will you be able to get blog money, I’ll get paid when you get an approved post. It’s a win-win situation!

Who else is going to pay a smallish blogger $400-$600/month for one blog, for blogging about what they want to blog about? Sure, there are other pay to blog things out there, but either their requirements are too high or they don’t pay much or both.

Me, I’ll stick to my favorite paid blogging site. PayPerPost is the greatest!

You should sign up, too. Today. Right now. Yeah.

Lovely way to spend December…

So, I’ve been sick. Egh. I haven’t been able to do much for the past few days, let alone writing up any blog ads for PayPerPost. I’m still not up to 100%, but I’m working on it.

So while I’ve been off, being wonderfully sick, my earnings have dropped significantly. Not working for 4 days will do that. Lost out on somewhere between $32 and $72, at least. Maybe even $100. So I’m only due a bit over $300 in the next 30 days.

Unfortunately, I think I’m gonna need that $300 to pay bills, like I’ve done with most of the $600 or so I’ve been paid so far by Pay Per Post, so no buying the Christmas presents I wanted to. Ugh.

I really hate getting sick! Why couldn’t this have waited until AFTER Christmas? Bleh.
