Dollars and sense

Dec-8-2006 By annelions

Do you know the difference between dollars and cents? Between fractions of dollars and fractions of pennies? Well, apparently, Verizon does not. Thanks to this Consumerist article, I now know where grade-school dropouts go. Makes me extra glad I’ve got a Cricket phone instead of Verizon.

Rockstartup… PayPerPost

Dec-6-2006 By annelions

So, apparently, while I was cutting coupons and out shopping, PayPerPost launched their reality/web documentary show. Going shopping and being sick kind of puts a damper on being able to do anything fun and that includes watching stuff like this. I haven’t even felt much like being on the computer for most of the time, that’s how sick I’ve been. And I usually don’t get that sick (more on this in a later post).

So I’ve spent several days not caring about PPP. Shock. Horror. Gasp.

But I’m doing better now, so I’ve got a chance to watch the show. Unfortunately, I’m on dialup right now, so this will take awhile.

Done yet? No?

Okay, so several hours later I’ve finally finished watching the videos (yes, dial-up is really THAT SLOW). It’s pretty cool, seeing how things happen behind the scenes. I want one of the foam fingers they were handing out to people when they were handing stuff out to people waiting for the Today show in episode 2. Unfortunately, now I don’t remember much of episode 1.

I think I got too distracted by the cool foam fingers and the game of ‘MindBall’ they played at the end of episode 2. I want that game. It looks like it’d be pretty expensive, though.
But, anyway, it does seem like it will be interesting to watch and see how things develop at Pay Per Post. I just hope I can get offa dialup again so I don’t have to spend forever downloading the show!

What if they made a PacMan movie?

Dec-2-2006 By annelions

That’s the premise behind this video on YouTube. It’s all live-action, not CGI, which is cool. Well, the ghosts are CGI. But PacMan isn’t.

Unfortunately, it’s not very long. I’d love to see the ‘rest of’ the movie this ‘trailer is based off of. Does Pac-Man finally clear the town of ghosts!?

Who wins?

Nov-30-2006 By annelions

If PayPerPost were to fight my kitty, who would win? Well, if you know my kitty… you might guess how this fight might turn out.

As a hint, I’ll tell you that the kitty absolutely refused to cooperate with making this video! I had to resort to using, ah, ’stock video’ of him. He absolutely does not care whether I get paid for blogging or not! :-D

So here now, for your viewing pleasure, my kitty vs. PPP:

We want Megaglobe

Nov-27-2006 By annelions

Here’s yet another video o’ mine, this time telling Megaglobe that they should hurry up and finish their international search engine.

I’m not sure how Megaglobe’ll be different than other search engines already, but more ways of getting information is always a good idea. So, of course, we want Megaglobe. And the sooner, the better. Right now, their spiders are indexing the internet to find stuffs. Since the ‘net is bit, that could take awhile. But how long until we get to see it?
In this video, we embark upon the quest for the fabled Megaglobe. Where is it? And how do I get so much free time on my hands to make things like this? ;-)

Alright Megaglobe, we wanna see your search engine already. Where is it?!

How to plan a party

Nov-27-2006 By annelions

This is yet another weird film from the Internet Archive. ‘What makes a good party?‘ Well, they never really answer that question. I like how not once do they start dancing (where’s the record player?) but they do suddenly start singing ‘Jimmy Crack Corn’. That seems like such an odd song to suddenly start singing. Why not something semi-popular? Or was their budget too low to include anything even remotely newer?

Surely there was some other song they could’ve used to get everyone together. Maybe, I dunno, a waltz to get everyone dancing? That would’ve seemed more realistic. Oh well, silly old ‘training’ films. :-D

This one isn’t so weird…

I like getting paid for stuff. Getting paid for surveys, getting paid for blogging and I like to get paid to make videos. This time, I was supposed to make a somewhat ‘crazy’ video. Unfortunately, the thing didn’t turn out as crazy as I had hoped. I wanted to do spinning and blinking and who knows what else, but I couldn’t figure out how. I am sad.

Maybe I’ll make another one later, with spin-y neon-y stuffs. I dunno.
