Teaching cavemen?

Sep-28-2006 By annelions

I dreamed last night that was supposed to go back in time and teach cavemen about food preservation and reading/writing… The caveman that I was teaching, he really seemed to like the writing, but didn’t see much use for it since you couldn’t eat it. And he didn’t see what good it was to preserve food, since once you have all your food… what would you do with your time then? I tried to explain that he could use the new free time to do reading and writing and make pretty things; I had a stylus of some kind, from the future, that was studded with pretty rocks (really colored glass pebbles fused to an orange glass stylus) and I explained that it came from ‘a far away land, where they preserve all their food’. In the end, I had to go back to the future and the caveman said he’d ‘think about’ teaching others what I’d taught him.

Most of my dreams, I don’t remember after I wake up whether or not they were in color. But this one, I distinctly remember the various colors of glass on the thin orange glass stylus. It was very pretty.

Cats, cats, cats

I had a dream, set somewhere in the 40′s… the Japanese had captured a couple of tiny islands, either four or five. These islands were tiny. Each was a football field or smaller in size. You could wade, or swim, back and forth between the islands. They were not that big. On one island, the Japanese had placed a bunch of rats. Big rats. On another island, they placed a couple cats.

I guess they were seeing if the cats would swim over to eat the rats. I’m not sure.

Somehow, some of the cats ended up on a third island. This island was all marsh, not much to it. Anyway, I don’t think the cats ever ate the rats. I remember I was part of a US study and rescue mission, to save the cats. The rats were fine, they had eaten most of the vegetation off their little island. The cats, however, had been catching fish to eat, somehow. They were thin and malnourished.

That’s about all I remember of the dream. Dang, that was weird.
